GUERRILLA MOVEMENT IN KHARKOV REGION IN EARLY PART OF THE GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR
Abstract
To fight with the German occupiers in Kharkov region guerrilla units were grouped in August 1941. There were a few bases for each unit with weapons and food, but for objective reasons, they were not used. In October — December 1941, there were about 30 units in Kharkov region. At this time the local partisans mostly interacted with the units of the Red Army. The reasons for this were a large concentration of German troops in the region, the impossibility to use the bases with weapons and food, the betrayal of some comrades, confusion. To combat the guerrillas the German authorities created a wide range of punitive units and used a method of hostages. But the number of diversions increased monthly.
