NEW SOURCES OF SOCIAL AND POLITICAL POSITION OF THE URAL PEASANTS DURING THE RUSSIAN CIVIL WAR (1919—1920)
Abstract
The author analyzes the content of the documents on the social and political behavior of the Ural peasants. The revealed data suggest a dynamic position of the village towards the authorities. At the beginning of 1919 the majority of citizens supported Kolchak, in spring-summer they joined the Bolsheviks, and in autumn 1919 — winter 1920 the peasants began to doubt their choice and again stood in opposition to the dictatorship of the proletariat. The morale of the Red Army men, as most of them came from villages, depended on the success at the front and material supply of the units.
