“YOU KNOW, I DID NOT GET ALONG WITH VISSARIONYCH”: FROM THE HISTORY OF POLITICAL IMPOSTURE IN THE URALS OF 1930-s
Abstract
The article examines the types of imposture that took place in the Soviet reality, analyzes the motives of their occurrence. The emphasis is put on the phenomenon of political imposture which became widespread in post-revolutionary Soviet Russia. It is noted that the political imposture was caused by a desire to construct a «positive» social image, to wear a mask of a trustworthy Soviet man. Based on the example of I. T. Tretyakov — a political impostor who lived in Perm in the first half of the 1930s — the author reveals the conditions and the mechanism of creating a false social identity, as well as basic elements of heroizing the image.
