MIGRATION PROCESSES IN ORENBURG REGION IN THE 1930-s

Abstract

The article reveals the main causes and the extent of mechanical movement of the population of the Orenburg region in the 1930s. The southern Urals during the 1930s experienced constant migratory flows from rural to urban areas and back. The needs and patterns of socialist industrialization and collectivization were crucial in the integration processes. It is established that the most active were rural residents aged 15—29. The rural population of working age migrated more actively, which had a significant impact on the change in the total population and on the labor resources of the village. The urbanization processes in the Orenburg region of 1930-s caused an increase in the mechanical movement from the countryside to the city for careers, education, job search. Due to the collectivization of the village, many young professionals were attracted to the emerging farms. Thus, the main drivers that caused a strong influx of population from villages to cities were the famine, which lasted in our area almost to the middle of 1930-ies, industrialization and the repressed coming to the region from other parts of the USSR.

Key words
