LINGUISTIC COMPETENCE OF PUPILS: CRITERIA AND LEVELS OF FORMATION (BASED ON THE SECTION “PHONETICS” OF THE DISCIPLINE “THE RUSSIAN LANGUAGE”)

Abstract

The article reveals the need for the formation of pupils’ linguistic competence at the Russian language lessons in the process of learning the section “Phonetics”. On the basis of the research of scientific publications the author concludes on the scope of the concept “linguistic competence”. The survey of secondary school pupils results in establishing the criteria and the levels of linguistic competence. Examples of pupils’ work are presented to illustrate the criteria of formation of linguistic competence. The author concludes on different levels of pupils’ readiness for linguistic competence development at the Russian language lessons. The author regards the section “Phonetics” as a necessary stage to form and develop pupils’ linguistic competence.
