THE FORMATION OF POLITICAL VIEWS OF S. PRIKLONSKY IN 1860—1870 OF XIX CENTURY: THE IMPACT OF THE MEDIUM ON THE RESEARCHER’S PERSONALITY

Abstract

The article examines the factors which had an impact on the formation of political views of the populist publicist and researcher of Karelia Sergey Alekseyevich Priklonsky (1846—1886). The paper considers the early period of his life. The life period under review is associated with his training in two institutions — Theological Seminary and the University of Moscow. Social and political situation in the Russian Empire in the mid-twentieth century is also under study. The author concludes that the formation of S. A. Priklonsky’s views and his further turning to populism were influenced by a complex of reasons.
