ENGLISH COURSES FOR LAW STUDENTS: CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT FOR THE SUPPLEMENTAL TRAINING COURSE “TRANSLATOR IN THE PROFESSIONAL COMMUNICATION”

Abstract

The article deals with a set of key points (academic and pragmatic) of working out the training course “Translator in the professional communication”: approaches to legal language teaching (system-based, interpretative, practice-oriented and competence-based), curriculum development, stages of teaching, creation of learning aids, improvement of learning environment and monitoring procedures. It also describes the academic maintenance of the program and the data selection criteria for teachers to make their own teaching aids, training handouts, means and forms of control over the program implementation. The author’s research approach to the issue is instantiated by examples from practical work of the teaching staff of the department of foreign languages of Orenburg Institute of Moscow State Law University named after O. E. Kutafin.
