NKVD ACTIVITIES AT SOUTH-URAL RAILWAY DURING GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR
Abstract
On the basis of archival and published materials the article attempts to give a brief description of the personnel of the NKVD of the South Ural Railway during World War II. The basic tasks the NKVD had on the railway during the war are shown: public order; implementation of an organized evacuation of the population and businesses; control of important objects and goods on the road; elimination of homelessness and neglect; struggle with military desertion and labor, looting, panic-mongers, distributors of all kinds of provocative rumors; prevention and control of sabotage enemy operations. It is proved that the realization of these objectives presented severe difficulties.
