ECONOMIC BASE OF USPENSKY CONVENT DURING THE POST-REFORM PERIOD
Abstract
This article analyses the economic base of Uspensky Convent (Orenburg) in late XIX — early 20th century. It establishes the factors promoting economic growth of the convent: good location, attitude of the local population, close ties with the provincial and city administration. The paper reconstructs the system of the convent facilities, including profitable commercial lands, and reveals the role of private donations in its strengthening. The conclusion is drawn that the convent managed to fit in post-reform capitalism successfully.
