TREES AND SHRUBS IN THE FLORA OF SYKTYVKAR

Abstract

The article presents the results of tree and shrubbery flora inventory based on collections, analyzed herbariums (SYKO and SYKT) and published scientific data. The record shows that 96 species (48 genera and 23 families) of trees and shrubs were found in Syktyvkar with 84 species growing now. The article presents an abstract of their occurrence, reproduction and growth forms. Dicotyledonous angiosperms dominate while the share of gymnosperms is small. Families Rosaceae and Salicaceae as well as genus Salix are most profuse in species. 11 families and 28 genera include 1 species each. The coefficient of adventization is 0.56. Most species used in landscaping do not propagate by seeds, that may be explained by the peculiariries of urban conditions. Caragana arborescens, Quercus robur species and the ones of genera Malus and Populus are potentially ruderal in their native phytocoenosis. The urban plantation is mainly represented by 18 species, 11 of which are native, with deciduous trees and shrubs dominating over evergreen. The share of shrubs is more than that of trees, the latter being mainly multistem and low-holed. Most plants including most common ones have several types of growth forms. However, it is not yet proved whether this phenomenon is a result of the urban impact or their resistance.

Key words

Syktyvkar, seed plants, urban flora, tree and shrubbery flora, invasive plants, growth forms of trees and shrubs, greening.
