Abstract
This brief communication provides a list of diurnal butterflies (Lepidoptera, Rhopalocera) inhabiting the Republic of Tatarstan. The list includes 161 species from 66 genera and 6 families. Their occurrence in 5 natural regions of Tatarstan has been considered. According to the number of species, the family Lycaenidae dominates — 51 species (31,6%). Furthermore, the natural regions under study have been described. The largest number of species has been recorded in the Western Cis-Kama forest region (119 species, 73,9%) and the Eastern Trans-Kama forest-steppe region (117 species, 72,7%). The Eastern Cis-Kama region of forests and bogs has turned out to be the least populated area (92 species, 57,1%).
