“NONE OF US WOULD HAVE CHOSEN SUCH TIMES”: “DASHING NINETIES” THROUGH THE EYES OF EYEWITNESSES

Abstract

The article shows the significance of the epistolary heritage and diary of the honorary citizen of Orenburg, the scientist and public figure L. N. Bolshakov as a unique historical source about the era of “dashing nineties” — the period of the first years of the existence of independent Russia after the collapse of the Soviet Union. It is concluded that this source allows to make a significant contribution to the documentation of the initial pages of the newest Russian history and to reconstruct the emotional perception of the events of the 1990s by Russian intelligentsia in the province.

Key words
