ORENBURG HISTORIOGRAPHY OF THE REVOLUTION AND CIVIL WAR: THE RESULTS OVER 100 YEARS

Abstract

The article gives an overview and analysis of the Orenburg historiography of the 1917 revolution and the civil war over the first hundred years of study. The author believes that the study of such complex and multifaceted phenomena as revolution and war is most effective at the regional level. Studies of this level include the study of the history of events within certain historical boundaries; in this case within the boundaries of the Orenburg province and the research activities of local historians. The paper sets the main directions of research of the Soviet period, identifies their achievements and shortcomings; innovations of the post-Soviet period. The author analyzes the modern state of the problem; new directions, new topics and subjects; defines the new vision of the most controversial and controversial issues; outlines further prospects of the research.
