THE DEVELOPMENT OF RADIO BROADCASTING AND BROADCASTING NETWORKS IN THE UDMURT AUTONOMOUS SOVIET SOCIALIST REPUBLIC DURING THE GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR
Abstract
The article, based on archival documents, considers the problems of the development of radio broadcasting in the Udmurt Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic during the Great Patriotic War, when radio became the only operative source of information of the population about current events, the most important means of education and agitation. The leadership of the Udmurt Radio Committee and the Regional Committee of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) during the war solved the task of developing local radio broadcasting. Particular attention was paid to the initiating of radio broadcasting in local councils, hospitals and colonies. A special concern of the Udmurt leadership was the improvement of the technical maintenance of broadcasting: the reduction in the frequency of technical problems at radio centres and communication lines, the solution of the problem of power supply shortage, lack of reproducers, fuel, etc. The solution of these issues was especially important, since the most meaningful radio program will not be effective if the radio-cell does not work for technical reasons.
