CONCEPTUALIZATION OF THE TERM “PROJECT” BY PUPILS OF 5th AND 6th GRADES AND ARRANGEMENT OF PROJECT-RESEARCH ACTIVITIES IN RUSSIAN CLASSESCORRELATION OF CULTURE AND PEDAGOGICAL ACTIVITY AS HISTORICAL PEDAGOGICAL PROBLEM
Abstract
The article discusses the possibilities and conditions of productive organization of project-research activities in a regular school including Russian classes. Using the results of questionnaire survey done among the pupils the author comes to conclusions about project-research activities being used in a non-productive way in the 5th and 6th grades of a regular school: 80,9 percent of pupils don’t know what the project is (4,4 percent have no grasp of the concept, and 76,1 have wrong understanding of the concept); 19,1 percent of pupils are involved in project-research activities, which indicates low levels of usage of the technology both in elementary and secondary schools; teachers do not assist during the preparation of pupils’ projects. Productive work on the project is replaced with reproductive, the term “project” is used as a synonym for presentation or a report. The author of the article argues that a real project should have objective or subjective novelty. The author considers project-research activities a way to complete educational tasks of cognitive kind, a creative activity of pupils aimed at getting exact material or ideal product. While describing the difficulties appearing during work on early stages of project, the author notes the significant position of a teacher in creation and support of motivation for pupils. Project-research activities done correctly and guided by teacher help to develop such qualities as independence, proactivity, industry, and a sense of personal responsibility among pupils.
