FORMATIVE EVALUATION AND ITS IMPACT ON PERSONAL EDUCATIONAL RESULTS OF STUDENTS

Abstract

The article analyzes the approaches to determining the essence of formative evaluation and presents the results of the analysis. The philosophical foundations of formative evaluation are revealed; it is compared with a cumulative assessment. Based on the content analysis of contemporary foreign and domestic scientific works, the paper reveals the features of this type of evaluation through which it affects the personal educational outcomes of students. The systematic analysis of the main techniques and methods of formative evaluation at school allowed the author to define the functions of the formative evaluation, contributing to the achievement of students’ personal results. The interiorization mechanism of the content of education by a student is substantiated through formative evaluation.
