TYPES OF CULTURAL ENTERTAINMENT IN INDUSTRIAL CENTERS OF THE VYATKA PROVINCE AT THE TURN OF THE XIX—XX CENTURIES
Abstract
The article studies the establishment of cultural institutions in factory settlements (Izhevsk, Votkinsk, Omutninsk, Belaya Kholunitsa, Klimkovka) in the Vyatka province in the late XIX — early XX centuries. The main forms of cultural entertainment of miners are analyzed. These are libraries and reading rooms, tea rooms, lectures through the “magic lens”, community theatrical productions, national holidays. The author pays attention to the contribution of the factories’ executives, rural communities, schools, public and charitable organizations to the development of cultural entertainment of the population. The information was mainly taken from the materials of the regional press (“Vyatka province gazette”).
