THE ORIGIN OF THE STAKHANOV MOVEMENT IN THE ORENBURG REGION
Abstract
The article analyzes the process of emergence and further spread of the Stakhanov movement in the Orenburg region from 1935 to 1937. Attention is paid to the ways of popularization of this phenomenon in the conditions of the region. Based on the socio-economic changes that took place in the country during the first five-year plan, the state authorities determined a new form of socialist competition. It was designed to increase productivity, without serious material costs. In a short time the worker had to master the technique and organization of work. Since in the field the new variations of high-performance labor were not entirely clear, the introduction of the Stakhanov methods was slow. In contrast to the industrialized regions of the country, the Orenburg local authorities were focused on the introduction of Stakhanov’s experience in all sectors of the regional economy. Different kinds of moral, material and administrative levers were used as the ways to activate the movement. In general, it was possible to make Stakhanov methods of work massive by 1937. This form of high-performance labor, despite the difficult process of implementation, allowed to maintain a positive dynamics of economic growth in the Orenburg region.
