EVACUATED POLISH CHILDREN IN KAZAKHSTAN AFTER THE END OF THE GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR (BASED ON MATERIALS FROM THE AKTOBE REGION)

Abstract

The article reveals the problems of evacuation of Polish children to Kazakhstan, particularly the functioning of the Aktyubinsk Polish Orphanage named after V. Vasilevskaya. Based on the archival sources, the paper considers the living conditions at the children’s home and the issues of moral education of orphans in the post-war years. It is established that in 1945—1946 2 out of 12 orphanages functioning in the territory of the Aktobe region were for Polish children. It was proved that the issue of evacuating Polish children and returning them in good condition to home was given great political importance. Aktobe regional department of national education defrayed all the expenses associated with the evacuation of Polish orphanages.
