TO THE CREATIVE BIOGRAPHY OF D. D. MORDUKHAI-BOLTOVSKOY: THE TOPIC OF STUDENTS IN HIS 1917—1918 JOURNALISM AND THE INFLUENCE OF PUBLIC ORGANIZATIONS ON EDUCATION IN THE FIRST DECADE OF THE SOVIET SYSTEM

Abstract

The article reports on the journalism of an outstanding Russian encyclopedist and prominent figure in higher mathematics D. D. Mordukhai-Boltovskoy, relating to students and their role in education in the first post-revolutionary period. The principles that he suggested to build interaction between student organizations and faculty members are identified. The article describes the humiliating process of “public review of academic staff”, which the scientist had to undergo in the 1930s. The scientific work by D. D. Mordukhai-Boltovskoy “On pupil and student organizations” is introduced into scientific circulation. The disastrous state of higher and grammar school education in 1917—1918 is assessed.
