RARE AND ENDANGERED SPECIES OF FLORA AND FAUNA OF ASTRAKHAN REGION AND THEIR PROTECTION

Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze the protection status of rare and endangered species listed in the Red Book of the Astrakhan region. The paper analyzes the occurrence of rare species of fauna and flora of the region in the specially protected natural territories of the Astrakhan region. Currently, there are 49 specially protected natural territories of regional significance in the Astrakhan region. The total area of the specially protected natural territories of regional significance is 428.7 thousand hectares. Natural parks account for 54.7% of the area, reserves — 37.3%, natural monuments — 8%. There are also two state nature reserves and one nature monument of federal significance.
The analysis showed that outside specially protected natural areas there are 22 species of fungi and lichens, 34 species of higher plants, 27 species of invertebrates, 13 species of fish and reptiles, 6 species of birds and 4 species of mammals. The flora and fauna of state nature reserves are studied mostly full. Recommendations: additional studies of the distribution areas of many rare species are needed. A detailed study is needed in the territory of natural parks, some nature reserves and natural monuments.
