THE ESTABLISHMENT OF PARISHES AND THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE LITURGICAL INSTITUTIONS OF OMSK EPARCHY IN THE LATE XIX — EARLY XX CENTURY

Abstract

The article reveals the problems of church construction in the Omsk eparchy during the period of active migration to the south of Western Siberia. The measures taken by government officials and the highest ecclesiastical department to meet the church and spiritual needs of immigrants, including management structures created for this purpose and legislative acts are analyzed. The purpose of the work is to highlight the problems associated with the activities of state structures directly involved in the placement and settlement of the arriving population from the central part of Russia, to characterize their interaction with the Synod. The article focuses on the factors that directly or indirectly influenced the development process of the Omsk eparchy. These include the naturalgeographical factor that determined the geography of settlement, hypercentralism, which was the basis of the administration of the Russian state and the conservatism of the Russian Orthodox Church, which continued to strictly adhere to patriarchal dogmas and established canons.
