ON THE WAY TO THE FORMATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF FEMALE VOCATIONAL EDUCATION: NEEDLEWORK IN THE TATAR FEMALE SCHOOLS OF THE EARLY XX CENTURIES

Abstract

The article discusses the problem of the establishment of Tatar female vocational education at the beginning of the 20th century. Information is given on conducting handicraft lessons in Tatar women’s schools, classes and craft schools in Russia. The paper gives an overview of the problems of teaching needlework in Tatar women’s schools. The authors revealed the features and main trends of the organization and conduct of needlework classes in women’s schools. The role and place of teachers and schools, charitable societies in the organization of lessons, clubs and needlework classes, the first craft schools for Tatar girls are shown. The authors cite the publication of Tatar newspapers and magazines of the early twentieth century. The authors attempted to analyze the attitude of society and individuals to learning the basics of needlework. The authors of the article came to the conclusion that schools and craft schools for women of the early twentieth century were the first link on the path to the establishment of professional education among Tatar women.
