KHAN POWER AND INTERNAL “SERVANT” GROUPS IN THE KAZAKH BUKEY HORDE (ACCORDING TO KAZAKHSTAN, ORENBURG AND ASTRAKHAN ARCHIVES)
Abstract
The article is devoted to the phenomenon of “internal service” within the Bukey horde. The data of the Orenburg and Astrakhan archives, as well as the publications of the authors both well-known in science and the latest are included. Considering the controversial issues, the author also draws attention to the complex process of “management of nomads”. To this end, the Khan authorities specifically attracted “outside force” in the person of non-Kazakh ethnic service groups. Receiving privileges and land plots, representatives of the Tulenguts, Nogai-Kazakhs and Kalpaks were obliged to serve. Most clearly, though controversially they managed to show their role during the social protests of the 1820s — 1840s in the Bukey horde.
