ALEKSEY ALEKSEEVICH EVREINOV: BIOGRAPHY AND CREATIVE WORKS

Abstract

The poet and prose writer Aleksey Alekseevich Evreinov (c. 1858—1901) left his mark in the literary life of Russia and the South Urals in the second half of the 19th century. Apparently born in Orenburg, he lived in Ufa, the family of his stepfather G. L. Gross moved frequently; he studied engineering in St. Petersburg, was engaged in zemstvo activity, appraised factory enterprises in Chernigov, Ufa and Nizhny Novgorod provinces, and was a prominent expert in this field. Since 1885, A. A. Evreynov started publishing articles in metropolitan newspapers and magazines, released a number of poems, as well as short stories. Contemporaries highly appreciated the artistic work of Evreinov, a man of high culture.
