FORMING THE READING LITERACY OF SCHOOLCHILDREN BASED ON WORK WITH LITERARY AND INFORMATIONAL TEXTS
Abstract
The article presents the results of a study proving the effectiveness of the formation of schoolchildren’s reading literacy through literary and informational texts (studying the writer’s biography in secondary school). Using the analysis of a poetic text as an example, it is shown that the basis of reader literacy is the ability to work with a word: from the text to an unfamiliar word, determining its contextual meaning, comparing it with the meaning of the word in the dictionary and returning to the text for a more accurate understanding of the word in the author’s interpretation, comparison with his own understanding. Models of work are presented using continuous and non-continuous texts, multiple texts, reflecting the main groups of reading skills. Mastering the techniques of working with literary and informational texts, including those that develop critical thinking of schoolchildren, is a necessary condition for the formation of their reading literacy.
