INTERACTIVE TECHNOLOGIES AS A MEANS OF IMPLEMENTING A COMPETENCY-BASED APPROACH IN THE CONTEXT OF DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION OF TEACHING ENGLISH AT SCHOOL
Abstract
The paper provides reasons for the feasibility of the principle of interactivity in the English language teaching in the context of formation of students’ communicative competence, taking into account the modern commitment to the use of information technology, digitalization of education. By applying the method of logical-theoretical analysis of scientific literature devoted to the problem of interactivity in the educational process, innovations in education, as well as a survey among teachers of educational institutions in the city of Orenburg, effective interactive techniques, potentially modifiable and eligible for the conditions of digital transformation of education, were identified and described. The authors also revealed the potentially applicable Internet resources and information technologies. An algorithm for the use of interactive technologies (with the example of debates) to serve digital transformation of education is presented. Particular attention is paid to the need for systematic account of the requirements of the competency-based approach, basic communicative skills and abilities that reflect the formation of communicative competence, to the principles of digital transformation of education in the process of usage of interactive teaching techniques and their elements. The potential for modifying interactive teaching techniques as didactic tools for implementing a competency-based approach, taking into account the digital transformation of education is proven. The testing of an algorithm for digital transformation of the process of interactive English language teaching techniques implementation is performed. The author draws the conclusion about the importance of the principle of interactivity implementation through the adaptation of existing teaching techniques to the process of digitalization, digital transformation of educational activities.
