SPECIES COMPOSITION AND POPULATION OF BIRDS ON LAKE SIVERGA (TYUMEN REGION)
Abstract
The article provides information about the species composition and abundance of birds on one of the large forest-steppe salt lakes in Western Siberia. Lake Siverga, a Key Ornithological Territories of Russia (KOTR) of international importance, is part of the Ramsar wetlands “Lakes of the Tobol-Ishim Forest-Steppe”, but still does not have the legal status of a protected area. Monitoring the state of the fauna and bird population of the lake is an urgent task of its conservation. Materials were collected in various parts of the coast during expedition trips in 2018—2021. The research results are compared with previously published data of other authors. 87 species of migrating, flying and nesting birds were found on the lake and in its immediate vicinity (taking into account the literature data — 109 species), 38 species for this territory were noted for the first time (including Long-tailed Duck, Smew, Great Cormorant, Eurasian Bittern, White-tailed Eagle, Great Snipe, Kentish Plover, etc.). The Kentish plover in the Tyumen region was registered for the first time. 13 species of birds listed in the Red Books of the Russian Federation and the Tyumen region were found on the lake.
