THE LIFE AND FATE OF THE ASTAFYEV BROTHERS IN THE XX CENTURY: HISTORICAL AND GENEALOGICAL RESEARCH
Abstract
Based on a microhistoric approach, analytical, documentary, systematic, biographical and oral history methods, the authors of the article presented the scientific results of a historical and genealogical study of the life paths and destinies of two representatives of the Astafyev family — brothers Grigory Ivanovich and Pavel Ivanovich, natives of the Chkalov (Orenburg) region. The study was conducted on the basis of a complex of various historical sources relating to the Soviet era, mainly to the 1930s and 1940s. The result was a generalizing historical and genealogical study, during which the analysis and systematization of the revealed information about the main stages of life, studies, professional activity, military service of the Astafyev brothers were carried out. The Soviet state had a significant impact on the formation of their personal attitudes and social position, since they did not stay away from public life, but acted as active participants, being members of Komsomol, party and other organizations. The authors, within the framework of a specific historical and genealogical study, showed how large-scale historical events and processes that took place in our country in the 20th century influenced the life and fate of ordinary citizens. The study of family and ancestral history also allows a modern researcher to use the potential of a microhistoric approach to study the social, political, and cultural contexts of a certain historical epoch.
