Abstract

The review considers the monograph of famous Samara historians P. S. Kabytov and Z. M. Kobozeva, dedicated to the fate of a prominent Volga industrialist of the Soviet era, Hero of Socialist Labor, director of the “Metallurg” plant Pavel Petrovich Mochalov. It is concluded that, against the backdrop of a personal biography, the authors managed to expand the panorama of the development of the city of Samara (Kuibyshev) from a provincial pre-revolutionary city to a Soviet industrial center. It is concluded that the publication under review is a valuable contribution not only to Samara, but also to Russian local history in general.
