On the moral and ethical value of translated Chinese folktales as adapted folklore texts for written rendering in the subject “Russian language”

Abstract

For linguodidactic purposes, the article reveals the problem of theoretical and practical understanding of the moral content of translated Chinese folktales as an adapted didactic text material for written rendering in the subject “Russian language” in general education and vocational schools. The content of the concepts of “morality” and “moral education” is considered. The role of translated tales of the peoples of China as a source of morally significant didactic material for rendering in the Russian language has been highlighted. Typical plots of Chinese folktales reflecting moral ideas are revealed. The fragments of Chinese folktales illustrating typical moral situations are selected. In these fragments the linguistic means of expressing the moral content are analyzed. It is concluded that Chinese folktales in Russian adapted by translators and editors are not inferior in quality to authentic Russian-language materials for written rendering in the subject “Russian language” and can be used for the purpose of accompanying moral education of students in general education and vocational schools.
