Abstract
The article focuses on the monograph by N. A. Garazha, which analyse the everyday life of “Eastern workers” in the Third Reich: the specifics of arranging the life of Soviet citizens in captivity, their feelings, experience, survival strategies, inevitable or desired integration into German society, preservation or loss of ethnic and social self-identification. Much attention is paid to the study of the practices of adaptive and maladaptive behavior of Ostarbeiters in Germany from the point of view of analyzing the influence of gender, confessional preferences, previous level of socialization, professional knowledge and skills.
