Complex spelling and speech work with a debatable continuation of the original text (by the example of the Chinese fairy tale “The Pledge”)

Abstract
The article considers the methodology of demonstrating complex spelling and speech work in the subject “Russian language”, in particular dictations and written reproductions with a debatable continuation of the original text. Originality, volume and subject matters of debatable statements on the source texts are foregrounded. The study takes a Russian-language translation of the Chinese folk tale “The Pledge” as a textual didactic material. The modern rendition of this old folk tale involves a debatable interpretation of its content and main idea. Going beyond the traditional interpretation of fairy tale’s protagonists and antagonists is a precondition for creating new debatable statements by both teachers and students. Their variation depends on the genre of mini-composition as a new ending of the fairy tale, continuing its text, or as an independent short discursive essay.
