Abstract
The article analyses samples of paired burials of different sexes of the Kozhumberdy cultural group (44) which is the most numerous among Alakul paired burials of the Southern Urals and adjoining territory of Western Kazakhstan. All of them refer to the developed stage of the Late Bronze Age (LBA 2). The issues of interpretation of these burials in Russian historiography are highlighted. The burials are considered by age groups: adults (19), adult with teenager (4), teenagers (13), teenagers and children (2), children (6). The features of each selected group are identified according to the main features of the burial rite: the arrangement and localization of graves on the burial site, the simultaneity or non-simultaneity of their commission, the disturbance of the burials, the position and orientation of the buried, as well as the accompanying grave goods. The author made a conclusion about the most convincing interpretation of them as burials of married couples.
