From the experience of health care institutions in transport in the 1950s — early 1960s (based on the materials of the South-Eastern Railway)

Abstract
The article, based on documentary sources from the regional archival fund, examines the problem of organizing transport healthcare on the South-Eastern Railway in the 50—60s of the 20th century. It analyzes the dynamics of the number of medical institutions and hospital beds in them, as well as medical personnel during the specified period. The experience of prevention and control of certain infectious diseases is considered. The problems concerning preventive medical examinations of railway transport workers are revealed. The poor quality of such examinations is explained by the lack of specialists involved. The author notes the undoubted importance of summer holidays for children of railway workers. It was concluded that, despite the existing problems, medical care on the South-Eastern Railway developed and ensured the restoration and preservation of the health of railway workers and members of their families. The scientific novelty of the article is due to the use of archival materials introduced into scientific circulation for the first time, as well as the lack of works on the history of departmental medicine.
