Lexical work and linguistic and cultural analysis at Russian and Literary Reading lessons: from a word to cultural self-identification

Abstract
The article is devoted to the issue of lexical work and linguistic and cultural analysis at the lessons of the Russian Language and Literary Reading. The article examines the national and cultural specifics as well as its influence on the formation of a child’s personality, the importance of learning culture through language, and the work on cultural vocabulary at the lessons of Literary Reading and the Russian Language. Cultural texts with precedent features (artistic, folklore and chronicle texts) are suggested as didactic material. As an example of working on cultural vocabulary, the analysis of a fragment from the epic “Sadko” is given, which primary school children get acquainted with in the 4th grade at a Literary Reading lesson. To reveal the features of the multicultural people of Russia, the work on the Tatar folk tale “Shural” in comparison with the Russian folk tale “Porridge from an Axe” is offered. The author proves that the integration of the Russian Language lessons and Literary Reading lessons contributes to the solid assimilation of the vocabulary and a deeper understanding of the cultural and historical facts presented in the texts.
