Abstract

The article offers extravaganzas created by James Robinson Planché under the impression of French ones as an authentic educational material. The authors analyze J. R. Planché’s extravaganzas selected for the development and improvement of all basic language skills and abilities at the level of phonetics, grammar, reading, writing, and speaking for Bachelor’s Degree. The offered materials aim at the development of logical, analytical, and critical thinking, which allows us to conclude that their application is necessary to improve the process of teaching English for Bachelor’s Degree. The authors studied the works of James R. Planché from the point of view of their use as authentic material in classes in such disciplines as “Foreign Language”, “English Speaking and Writing”, “English (Practical) Grammar”, “Practical Phonetics of English”, “Stylistics”. The practical significance of the work is shown in the set of tasks based on selected authentic texts that contribute to the development of students’ English language skills.
