Abstract
The article considers the process of Christianization of small indigenous peoples of the European North. The general and distinctive features of this process for different peoples are analyzed, the directions characteristic of the central government in the field of spreading Orthodoxy depending on the specific period of time are revealed. It is noted that the term “Christianization” in relation to the small indigenous peoples of the North does not imply full understanding of all the dogmas of Christianity by a certain people, but rather self-identification of the majority of them as Christians. The peculiarities of the influence of Christianization on the peoples under consideration are highlighted, including the issue of their inclusion in the unified Russian Empire throughout integration and acculturation processes.
