Abstract

The article is devoted to the methodological issues of teaching second-year foreign medical students of the English department to understand and use Russian names in speech. The ascertaining experiment (questioning 93 students, observing their speech behavior and communication with the university staff) has shown that the foreigners often avoid addressing Russian people by their first and patronymic names and make numerous pronunciation and grammar mistakes when using Russian anthroponyms. The authors have developed a corrective methodological system, which helps to eliminate psychological, linguistic and socio-cultural difficulties that foreign students face when addressing Russian citizens by their first and patronymic names. The article provides examples of tasks for teaching Russian anthroponyms. Doing the tasks regularly, foreign medical students master the skills of using Russian names in speech which will lead to their faster educational and professional adaptation.

Key words
