Abstract

The article-review is devoted to the monograph of the research team, which analyzes the main features and processes that took place in the Russian village in the first three decades of the 20th century. The history of the Russian village in the specified time frame is considered through the history of generations. The authors have formed an essential idea of the phenomenon of generational history — peasant society in the era of revolutions, reforms and wars, briefly substantiated the concept of the generation of the “revolutionary turning point”. It seems relevant to conclude that rural youth (the generation of the “revolutionary turning point”) during the First Russian Revolution gained experience in participating in anti-government actions, which was subsequently widely used by them in their further struggle, in particular, in the “community revolution” of 1917. Using the example of the conflict of the generation of the “revolutionary turning point” with other social and age groups of the rural population, the monograph reveals the essence of the intergenerational rift. The part of the study devoted to public sentiment in the Russian village is also of scientific value. The conclusions drawn from its content allow us to form a holistic view of rural society and the public consciousness of various groups of the population.
