Abstract

The article presents the results of a study conducted at Russian and Chinese universities (52 subjects in total). The following methods of collecting and analyzing errors were used: testing, categorical analysis of errors, analysis of their causes. It was found that Chinese students make errors when using all six groups of reflexive verbs (according to E. N. Nivina’s classification). The reasons for these errors are lack of understanding of the reflexive and reciprocal meanings of these verbs, peculiarities of transitive and non-transitive verbs, misinterpretation of passive and impersonal constructions, inattention to the presence or absence of a direct complement in sentences, insufficient lexical stock of reflexive verbs at the B2 level. The common factor behind these causes is the influence of the Chinese language.

Key words

Reflexive verb, Chinese, typical mistakes, Russian, transitive verbs, direct object.
