Abstract

The monograph by P. S. Kabytov and N. A. Fedorova is a fundamental study of the life and activities of Professor Ivan Mikhailovich Ionenko, an outstanding Soviet historian whose scientific works and pedagogical work have left a significant mark in Russian historical science. The review emphasizes that the authors successfully combine an in-depth analysis of Ionenko’s scientific heritage with a description of his personal biography, which allows us to see him as a multifaceted personality whose life was closely connected with the key events of the 20th century. Special attention is paid to the scientist’s contribution to the study of the peasant movement and the soldier masses during the 1917 revolution, as well as his role in the creation of a scientific school and the education of new generations of historians. The monograph is based on a wide range of sources, including archival materials, personal letters and memoirs, which makes it a valuable contribution to historical biography. The book will be useful both for specialists in the history of science and for all those who are interested in the history of Russia and the fates of its outstanding figures.
