THE ACTIVITY OF THE SOUTHERN URALS MILITARY ENLISTMENT OFFICES TO MOBILIZE MATERIAL RESOURCES DURING GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR

Abstract

The article highlights the work of military offices to supply the army with material resources: mechanical transport, horses, wagons, harness. Even before the war, it became clear that the area in the event of the outbreak of hostilities can not fulfill the mobilization plan of delivering mechanical transport because of its failure and lack of spare parts. The situation could not be significantly improved; therefore cars shipping faced great difficulties. By 1942 almost all serviceable vehicles had been mobilized. The situation with the horseflesh before the war caused no anxiety, but sending a large number of horses to the army, intense exploitation of the remaining due to the lack of vehicles and tractors led to a sharp decrease in numbers already in 1942. Due to the number of measures taken (the collection of old parts for transport, submission of repair shops to military commissariat, transfer of work horses into the suitable group), the army during the war was provided with the material resources.

Key words

Great Patriotic War, mobilization, military registration and enlistment office, material resources, transport, horseflesh, the Southern Urals.
