COMPETENCE-ORIENTED TASKS IN TEACHING A FOREIGN LANGUAGE
Abstract
The article reveals the main problems of competence orientation, when the emphasis is made on learning rather than on teaching. Competence orientation implies student’s creativity and initiative, discovery and reflective learning. The authors underline the differences of competence-oriented approach from traditional content-oriented one and demonstrate its characteristic features. Analyzing the traditional structure of competence-oriented tasks, they conclude that traditional structure of a lesson has been changing. The authors designate certain types of competence-oriented tasks and give relevant examples.
