FEATURES OF THE FORMATION OF IDEAS ABOUT THE HOMETOWN IN CHILDREN OF SENIOR PRESCHOOL AGE

Abstract

The article deals with the problem of the formation of ideas about the hometown in the general system of work on patriotic education with children of senior preschool age. The authors note the special importance of regional orientation and local lore material in the process of solving the problem of forming ideas about the history and culture of their native city. The cognitive, emotional and behavioral components of patriotism in older preschool children have been determined, the characteristics of high, medium, and low levels of their formation are given. The results of experimental work with children of senior preschool age Kindergarten 58, Nizhny Novgorod are presented. On the basis of the identified problems, the tasks are formulated and the features of the formation of ideas about their hometown in older preschool children are highlighted: ensuring thematic planning, using active forms and methods, designing a specially organized developing subject-spatial environment, implementing relationships with the parents of pupils. A long-term plan of work for senior preschool children has been developed and tested to form ideas about the history and culture of the city of Nizhny Novgorod. The content of the plan is presented by the themes: “Founding of Nizhny Novgorod”, “Outstanding personalities of our city”, “Modern Nizhny Novgorod”, “The place I live in”, “My family and I”, “The nature of the Nizhny Novgorod region”, “We are patriots of Nizhny Novgorod”. A comparative analysis of the level of development of all components of patriotism at the stage of the control experiment showed the effectiveness of the work carried out with the children of the experimental group. This proves the validity of the identified features of the formation of ideas about the history and culture of their hometown in older preschool children.
